Lifestyles Inventory Essays

Ways of life Inventory Essays Ways of life Inventory Essay Ways of life Inventory Essay Individual Thinking Styles The Life Styles Inventory (LSI) was intended to help survey adequacy seeing someone at work and bolster the improvement of relational aptitudes. This â€Å"road map† to self improvement was the brainchild of Dr. Clayton Lafferty. This study of inquiries estimates 12 key reasoning styles, that are respected to advance execution change and improve individual comprehension of how our reasoning influences our conduct. The 12 styles are classified into three general groups: Constructive, which incorporates Achievement, Self-Actualizing, Humanistic-Encouraging, and Affinitive reasoning styles, Passive/Defensive, which incorporates Approval, Conventional, Dependent, and Avoidance thinking styles; Aggressive/Defensive, which incorporates Oppositional, Power, Competitive, and Perfectionist thinking styles. I should concede, I was very reluctant about doing another self assessment as they now and again don't precisely reflect who you realize that yourself will generally be. All things considered, who realizes you better than you do? All things considered, the motivation behind this activity was to assist me with finding how my reasoning styles might straightforwardly impact my conduct as a director and could be an extraordinary resource in my undertakings for headway. Essential and Backup Thinking Styles After taking this self evaluation, my circumplex shows the two styles with the best impacts falls under the Constructive style and Passive/Defensive Patterns as showed in Figure 1. It centers in around my essential reasoning style is Humanistic-Encouraging (1 o’clock position) and my back up speculation style is being Dependent (5 o’clock position). Humanistic-Encouraging Style I can relate to the Humanistic-Encouraging style since it depicts who I am in both my expert and individual life. This style gauges our enthusiasm for individuals, our inclination to think about others, and our capacity to acknowledge without others without analysis. It is hopeful about what individuals can accomplish and can move and inspire individuals around them. I have consistently been truly worried about individuals throughout my life and I generally need to concentrate on how I can assist them with developing and build up their aptitudes. I see potential where different administrators don't see and bolster yearnings that nobody else thinks exist in individuals. I can’t help yet support others. It is basically who I am. Subordinate Style I to some degree can't help contradicting the reinforcement being Dependant as I don't accept this style of reasoning is a genuine delineation of the manner in which I think or consider myself to be an entirety. This style quantifies how much we feel our endeavors don't check. This kind of conduct gets from a requirement for security and self insurance. Individuals who fall under this style regularly feel powerless with next to no influence over their lives. They need sense of pride and consistently need to satisfy others. This part couldn't possibly be more off-base about who I am. In any case, it makes reference to that needy style individuals are aloof which I am, and here and there have a trouble settling on hard choices. A ton of this has to do with abrupt changes or hampered in our life. The last can be discovered more comparable to my individual life and less expert. Restricting Style It was difficult to figure out which style is constraining my adequacy from taking a gander at the diagram. The conspicuous is select Oppositional; nonetheless, says that I a forceful and like to contend would negate me â€Å"Dependent nature of lack of involvement. I chose to go with is Conventional Style. This style I feel is generally restricting in that being inactive, makes me need to just mix in and accommodate despite the fact that my heart says I was made to stick out. The measure that best depicts me is â€Å"the distraction of seeming ordinary and unchallenged obedience†. ( review server2. com/lsiuniversity-sso/rpt4. sp) This style is generally hard for me since it isn't who I am by and by, yet expertly it talks truth. Originating from an administrative situation to that of a subordate job at my present place of employment had a sensational effect on me. I have adjusted and fit in with the states of the way of life in my office since it is by all accounts the most effortless approach to stay utilized in this organization. I have watched associate be ended for expressing t heir real thoughts or having diverse of sentiments from that of our immediate report who is new to this job and needs to flex her capacity. It is debilitating and demoralizing for me. This is a style that should be tended to. Effect on Management Style Most of my life, I have fruitful in keep up balance between my own and expert life. Be that as it may, as we as a whole know, they cover and are entwined. Our administration styles whether positive or negative mirror our capacity to lead other. To be a compelling supervisor you should have the four fundamental administration capacities: 1) the capacity to Plan; 2) Organize; 3) Lead; and 4) Control. Arranging I am not enthusiastic about dawdling, so arranging is essential to me. I have to know the why, when, how, what to produce an arrangement and successfully execute it. There is consistently that need to set up an objective and a game plan to achieve this. This is a procedure that must be seen all the way to the finish. Sorting out No arrangement effective arrangement can be executed with appropriate association. As a director it is basic to have the option to sort out the arrangement for which an objective has been set. Association is expansive. For me, as long as there is where it is close to home or in my expert condition, I deliberately set up assets, which will best proficient approach to achieve the strategy I set up. Lead Not every person can lead or has the ability to do as such. Here and there individuals get lead and oversaw confounded. In any case, utilizing basic mandates set for individuals to follow is the thing that has consistently worked for me. I have consistently had the option to impact my representatives since I show others how its done. I never attempted to oversee or utilize capacity to have my direction or power something to be finished. Driving is powerful. Control is tied in with ensuring arrangements and procedures are in accordance with the objectives and items you have. I think for me, it needs to consistently ensure everything is near flawlessness. So that requires occasionally observing advancement, returning to basic issues and conversing with everybody include for input and their feelings on whatever we are attempting to achieve. I don’t truly see control as being in control; it is all the more so simply ensuring everything goes smooth. Beginning of Personal Style My own style is the sort of person I am. It was characterized by my character, my qualities, my background, good examples, instruction and trainings. Through an incredible span, my family’s legacy, nature I experience childhood in and even the individuals I kept near me all influenced who I am today. My qualities grew more and as I get more established. I keep on holding in high respect characteristics like modesty, regard which I was educated as a kid. Experiencing childhood in the West Indies, it was consistently about regard, having estates and knowing your place. I heard the Proverb’ â€Å"Children ought to be seen and not heard† a greater number of times than I could recollect. Yet, it put all things considered, it caused me to understand, that there was a period and a spot for everything. I generally need to loan some assistance regardless of the expense. Realizing when to support bad form and realizing which fight to fit since we can’t win them all. I was consistently somewhat timid and uninvolved growing up, yet had huge dreams and a considerably greater heart. My granddad would consistently ask me, â€Å"Why do you generally attempt to fit in when you were made to stand out†. He alongside my whole family has been my motivation for my life and has help shape who I am. From that point forward, I have settled on it an actual existence decision that in whatever I do, to be it individual or expert, I need to sparkle. I joined Toastmasters at a youthful age to help deal with my timidity which permitted me to arrive at profound inside myself discover the certainty and quality covered up. I turned out to be progressively dynamic in understudy governments and youth establishments where I started to see who I needed to be; A pioneer. I worked in an Industry where individuals were my business and discovered new regard and quality in good faith. I loathe individuals who are egotistical and have no empathy for others just as a result of their position. I never gave a lot of consideration to accomplishments as I do to character. This is the place I discover esteem. End and Reflection The motivation behind this activity was to find how figuring styles may impact my conduct as a director. No administration style is the equivalent, great or fits each circumstance. What I may see as a solid administration style to have, may possibly be opposing of what the other staff figures it ought to be. Regardless of anything else, my essential style Humanistic-Encouraging examples, I can't disprove this hypothesis. I guarantee it gladly in light of the fact that I wear this style each day. It has enabled me to create others and assist them with developing without the requirement for acknowledgment. I take a lot of satisfaction in realizing that I have energized, or improve the personal satisfaction whether expertly or by and by for my representatives. Not every person can say that and it is shown in the gratefulness the show towards me. Despite the fact that the Dependent style was my back up, I didn't discover anything significant that identified with me. A touch of worry to a great extent, changes in organization proprietorship and professional stability issues might be the reason for the score in this. Be that as it may, absence of sense of pride is certainly not who I am. I would prefer to concentrate on Conventional style as of late in my expert life, I have take a rearward sitting arrangement a long way from the solid voice that continued a rule of adulation during one of my talks. I have adjusted if just to get along. Be that as it may, this isn't the best approach to accomplish my objectives. I need to have the option to be me; A lady once so certain and ready to go the mile. I need to by and by be suc

Homeless Veterans - Free Essay Example

People go to war and some come home and some do not come home, but the ones that do come back are not always the same. Some come back to nothing and some come back to find things have changed. Some cannot go back to their old lives because of mental illnesses, physical illnesses and some people just change. The men and women that go through and see the things they do have a hard time coping with those things that they do and see. They try and make that stuff they went through go away by drinking and doing drugs, and they get addicted to them From the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, they say that seventy percent of veterans have substance abuse. Sometimes thats the only thing that gets them through the day. They go through so many things like killing people, watching their brothers and sisters die beside them or getting hurt themselves in the line of duty and many more things that we could not imagine going through. Those things can be hard to go through and some people never come back from it. So, when they go home, they sometimes end up on the streets because their families cannot handle them like that or they spend all their money on drinks and drugs and lose their house, and some are addictions can come from after they get back with physical, or mental disorders. With physical disorders like TBI (traumatic brain injury), a leg or arm loss, eye or hearing loss from a bomb going off. These can be very big life-changing events in someones life and can change someone not just physically but mentally too. Sometimes they do not have the money for all the surgerys that come with it and all the physical therapy that they have to do after surgery to get better, and some of them do not have that money and they cannot get a job to pay for all those bills and they end up on the streets. PTSD can cause you to be stressed all the time and sometimes they do not get over it. It can cause a person to get violent at times and some think they are back at war. A study at Yale University showed,sixty-three percent of male homeless veterans and seventy-seven percent of female homeless veterans have PTSD. Some get over it and some do not. Many times, it can change a person and their families cannot handle their disorders. Ways that a family will split up can be from money problems that come with the medical treatments, the behaver from the PTSD, the substance abuse, and the lack of support the family gives. This can all lead to veterans going homeless. People would not disagree with veterans being put on the streets but some do not take action and help them. all talk but no show, is what some people would call it. People might not think it is right for veterans to be homeless but what are they doing about it, nothing. If people just did something like donating money or clothes , help build houses or something little because a little can go a long way. In conclusion, the veterans need help, they do not belong on the streets of the country they fought so hard to keep safe, and some even lost their lives for us. We need to our part to the country and help the ones we sent off to war. Some come back broken and scared and they do not need to, they go through a lot from addiction to mental and physical disorders or come home a changed and not the same person they once were. The Human Condition Freedom Expropriated by Corporations...

The Human Condition: Freedom Expropriated by Corporations Arendts ideas in The Human Condition have laid the foundation on which American society is grounded, and are particularly useful for looking at America today. American citizens have been displaced from the Arendtian model of the modern age. The American government has lost its freedom by having been expropriated from the realm of freedom in the vita activa. Capitalism and large corporations now wield the most power and economic influence in America today. This explanation has become increasingly more appropriate in describing the role of oil corporations in America, in light of the actions America has taken since the September 11 terrorist attacks. Freedom, as†¦show more content†¦Only those candidates with enough financial support can seriously contend for a seat in any elected government position. President George W. Bush for example raised and spent over 40 million dollars in the 2000 Presidential Primaries alone. The growing power wielded by private interests has enormous economic consequences. However, the greatest impact may be political, as corporations transform economic clout into political power; many operating today have gained so much economic and political power that they are now entering the world of international diplomacy. American foreign policy towards the Middle East revolves around oil interests. The U.S. has attempted to maintain stability between nations such as Palestine, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Iran in order to protect the flow of imported oil from the Middle East. The September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon have undermined U.S. attempts at stability in the Middle East, by demonstrating to the world that America is in fact vulnerable, while at the same time symbolically proving to other Middle Eastern nations that they do not have to be taken advantage of by America. President Bush has since declared a war on terrorism, in which the financial assets of terrorist groups have been frozen, economic sanctions have been imposed on countries harboring terrorist factions, and US military forces are not engaged in active conflict in Afghanistan. Synthesis From The Law Of Conservation Of Energy - 1470 Words

introduction A thermodynamic cycle consists of a sequence of multiple thermodynamic processes that encompass the transfer of heat and work into and out of the system. This process can have many variables within the system including pressure, temperature. (saylor.org, n.d.)The cycle ends with the system returning to its initial state. The first law of thermodynamics is simply an adaption from the law of conservation of energy but is slightly changed to encompass the differences. (clarkson.edu, n.d.) This law when put simply states that the change in energy within the system is directly proportional to the difference of the heat input to the system and the workout put of the system. (ucdavis.edu, n.d.)This gives the following equation: ∆U=Q-W Where; ∆U is the change in internal energy of the sytem Q is the amount of energy added to the system through heat W is the amount of energy lost due to work done by the sytem Power cycles Thermodynamic power cycles are the origin of the operation of heat engines which supply a majority of the world electric power and also run a majority of motor vehicles. These power cycles can be put into one of two categories; real cycles and ideal cycles. (saylor.org, n.d.) He was so very poor that he got his living through planting in his small backyard. He was the only human, living in the forest but he has many animals who lives with him. One day, Jack felt so lonely. He felt there was something missing in his life in that moment. He was not able to work the whole day and slept through the whole night. The day came when jack decided to leave his home and got to travel. He was desperate to found out what was that missing piece to complete the picture of his life. And then, His journey has begun. Along his journey, while looking at the sky, he didn’t realized that someone was also on his way and eventually they bumped on each other that made the two fall. Jack: Hey, are you blind? Can’t you see I’m walking in this road you crazy woman? Shaira: What? Me, crazy woman? How dare you to say it to me! Don’t you know that I am the†¦.. Before she could say it, she remembered that she must maintain her identity hidden. So Jack: know what crazy lady? Shaira: ahhh that I’m also walking in this road. And it is your fault why it happened not me. Jack: and now it’s my fault! Whoa, nice one but I have to go. I don’t like to waste my time talking to a nonsense and crazy old lady like you. Shaira: Grrrhhhhhhhhhh However, the sky starts to pour rain. It was a hard one. Thunder roars and lightning strikes. So jack ran off to find a place where he could take shelter for a while until the rain will stop. Meanwhile, Shaira was so afraid that she could not move her body while keeping her ears closed. She was afraid of thunders and lightings. Jack was moved woefully. He immediately helped her. And lead her to a shelter. A cave. Shaira: Thank You! Jack: No you don’t have to. By the way, the rain is heavy outside. I think we should stay here until morning. It might be dangerous to travel. Unless If you don’t mind being with me? Shaira: I guess you’re right. I have to stay here until morning. (She smile happily. ) Jack: Good! So, good night. Have a wonderful night hmmh, you are..? Shaira: Oh! By the way I’m Shaira. And? Jack: Jack! Call me Jack for short. (And he smiles back. ) Shaira: So, nice to meet you Jack. Jack: Same here! (While preparing the woods to be burn in order to give them warm in that cold winter night. Shaira: Goodnight Jack! She was not seeing jack at that moment because she already closed her eyes when she told it. She was sad because she didn’t received any response by Jack. However, she realized that they are just both strangers to each other and any attachment would mean something that is bad or might lead to coercion. After an hour, Shaira felt there was something wrong. So she aroused up, and see if Jack is Okay. And her great shocked, Jack was not there! Shaira: Oh no! Jack! Jack! Jack! Where are you? Please don’t leave me! Please! I’m scared. It was dark inside the cave. But she faced it bravely. Shaira runs off to find Jack. She was crying heavily. Until she heard something. Someone is screaming out of pain! Shaira: Jack, is that you? Jack? Jack? Please answer me Jack! And a loud voice echoed in the cave. Shaira was terrified. Shaira think that there are ghost in the cave. She felt afraid again. However, that was just a false alarm. Actually Jack was just having a hard time releasing his waste. That’s why he had to shout out because it is big, really a big dechets. Jack: Oh, thanks God. I feels so relieved. As he tightens his belt, Shaira took the chance to see who was there. And to her surprise she saw Jack. Jack: Shaira, what are you doing here? Shaira: I should be the one asking that question. What are you doing here Jack? Jack: Me? Doing here? Oh! Common. I have to release my dechets because I cannot hold it any longer. So, I walked and find a place where I could have my moment. And I found this place. Isn’t it nice so? Shaira: Never mind. Let’s go back now. Jack: Ok. But before they could step up, Shaira saw something and it is going to hit Jack. Shaira: Jack, watch out! Jack immediately shook his body off as fast as he could. He turned his head and he was extremely shock of what he saw. Do you know what he saw? Do you really want it so bad? Just sit back, and relax. So, Jack saw his dechets moving. Yeah, his dechets! And the most shocking event is, when his dechets talks. What a shocking dechets it would be! Jack: Am I hallucinating or am I just dreaming? Ok! (He slapped his faced once, then again, and again! ) Ouch! That hurts. Dechets: Yeah, it really hurts, you know! Jack: Oh my God. Can you really talk? Shaira: What happened? Jack: See that, it was talking. My dechets is talking. Shaira: Yeah I know that. Jack: You know? But how? Shaira: I heard it too that’s why I knew. Dechets: Bupools! Jack: Yeah, you’re right. Dechets: So, what are you doing in this cave? Shaira: It is raining heavily outside so we stopped and found this place to shelter us until morning, until the rain stop. Dechets: Is that so? Then you’re always welcome here! Shaira: Thank You! Dechets: Back to you Jack. Thank you! Jack: For what? Dechets: For releasing me? Now I’m free, free at last! No, actually thank you for contributing to the environment. You did a good job. Jack: Are you serious? Dechets: Yeah, 100% sure. You want to know why? Jack: If you let us to know, then why not. Dechets: Good. Have a sit. And you too my lady. Shaira: Thank You. The dechets starts telling a story. In living organisms, phosphorus is†¦. Jack: Phosphorus? What is that? I don’t even know or heard about that? Dechets: Jack listen first. I will tell you all about phosphorus in an easy manner for you two to understand. Ok? Shaira: He’s right Jack. We have to listen first. Jack: I guess so, but†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦ Dechets: No buts, just listen Ok! In living organisms, phosphorus is an essential components of cells. For example, it makes up part of the head groups in the phospholipids of all cellular membranes. Phosphorus is also found abundantly in the nucleus, where it forms part of the chemical backbone of DNA and RNA. How do organisms acquire phosphorus? The main stores of phosphorus in the biosphere are found in Earth’s crust. With weathering, rocks release phosphorus in the form of phosphate. The phosphate enters the soil, where plants take it in through their roots. When animals eat plants, they incorporate the plants’ phosphorus into their own bodies. When plants, animals, and other organisms die or release wastes, as what you’ve done to me, phosphorus becomes available to decomposers, such as fungi and bacteria. The decomposers break down the tissues and release phosphate into the soil, where plants can take it up again. From the land, phosphorus enters rivers and oceans by runoff, leaching, or in the cells of living organisms. Once in the ocean, phosphorus enters the marine food chain. A single phosphorus atom might cycle between the water and the bodies of organisms for an average of 100,000 years before it finally falls to the ocean bottom as sediment, forming new rocks. Phosphorus can remain trapped in sediment for 100 million years or more. Unlike elements in the carbon, sulfur, and nitrogen cycles, phosphorus does not cycle through the atmosphere. Instead, it has a sedimentary cycle. Phosphorus in the ocean sediments must be lifted by geological forces to reach Earth’s surface again, where the cycle can continue. Humans have changed the natural phosphorus cycle by activities such as mining and fertilizing. Fertilizer contains abundant phosphorus, which enters the environment. Sewage treatment plants add extra phosphorus to rivers, lakes and oceans. Extra phosphorus can put some organisms, such as algae, at a growth advantage, and thereby upset the balance of organisms in an ecosystem. Jack: Ahhh, now I knew. Phosphorus really is essential to all living things. Without it, living things might not be possible. Shaira: Yes Jack. Phosphorus plays many roles in our environment and we have to maintain its balance in our ecosystem. Dechets: Yes, that’s right Shaira. But, as what you’ve said Shaira we have to maintain its level, because any excess will bring danger to our environment. Jack: Danger? What danger? Dechets: Human interference in the phosphorus cycle occurs by overuse or careless use of phosphorus fertilizers. This results in increased amounts of phosphorus as pollutants in bodies of water resulting in  eutrophication. Eutrophication devastates water ecosystems. Although the net effect as a carbon sequestration mechanism is minimal, the ecological impact of phosphorus fertilization to the ocean could be extreme. Given the other assaults on marine ecosystems, including warming, and acidification of surface ocean waters from higher carbon dioxide levels, it would be pure speculation to project how P eutrophication would affect ecosystem structure and distribution in the future.

Entrepreneurship has gained greater significance at global level under changing economic scenario. Global economy in general and Indian economy in particular is poised for accelerated growth driven by entrepreneurship. Admits environment of super mall culture we find plenty of scope for entrepreneurship in trading and manufacturing. An entrepreneur is a person who is able to look at the environment, identify opportunities to improve the environmental resources and implement action to maximize those opportunities (Robert E. Nelson) it is important to bear in mind the entrepreneurial skills that will be needed to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and communities and to sustain a healthy economy and environment. We will write a custom essay sample on Women Entrepreneurship- Challenges Opportunities or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Taking this into consideration, we will find that each of the traditional definitions has its own weakness (Tyson, Petrin, Rogers, 1994, p. 4). The first definition leaves little room for innovations that are not on the technological or organizational cutting edge, such as, adaptation of older technologies to a developing-country context, or entering into export markets already tapped by other firms. Defining entrepreneurship as risk-taking neglects other major elements of what we usually think of as entrepreneurship, such as a well-developed ability to recognize unexploited market opportunities. Entrepreneurship as a stabilizing force limits entrepreneurship to reading markets disequilibria, while entrepreneurship defined as owning and operating a business, denies the possibility of entrepreneurial behavior by non-owners, employees and managers who have no equity stake in the business. Therefore, the most appropriate definition of entrepreneurship that would fit into the rural development context, argued here, is the broader one, the one which defines entrepreneurship as: a force that mobilizes other resources to meet unmet market demand, the ability to create and build something from practically nothing, the process of creating value by pulling together a unique package of resources to exploit an opportunity. It combines definitions of entrepreneurship by Jones and Sakong, 1980; Timmons, 1989; Stevenson, et al. 1985. Entrepreneurship so defined, pertains to any new organization of productive factors and not exclusively to innovations that are on the technological or organizational cutting edge, it pertains to entrepreneurial activities both within and outside the organization. Entrepreneurship need not involve anything new from a global or even national perspective, but rather the adoption of new forms of business organizations, new technologies and new enterprise s producing goods not previously available at a location (Petrin, 1991). This is why entrepreneurship is considered to be a prime mover in development and why nations, regions and communities that actively promote entrepreneurship development, demonstrate much higher growth rates and consequently higher levels of development than nations, regions and communities whose institutions, politics and culture hinder entrepreneurship. An entrepreneurial economy, whether on the national, regional or community level, differs significantly from a non-entrepreneurial economy in many respects, not only by its economic structure and its economic vigorousness, but also by the social vitality and quality of life which it offers with a consequent attractiveness to people. Economic structure is very dynamic and extremely competitive due to the rapid creation of new firms and the exit of old stagnant and declining firms Redefining entrepreneurship and innovation Succeeding as an entrepreneur and an innovator in today’s world is vastly different from what it was earlier. Organizations will face seven trends in the next decade as they flight to survive, grow and remain competitive. Speed and uncertainty will prevail. Technology will continue to disrupt and enable. Demographics will dictate much of what happens in business. Loyalty will erode. Work will be done anywhere, anytime. Employment as we know it will disappear. Women Entrepreneur: Women entrepreneurs have been making a significant impact in all segments of the economy in India, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Australia and the United States. The areas chosen by women are retail trade, restaurants, hotels, education, cultural, cleaning, insurance and manufacturing The New Thrust suggests following two factors pulling or pushing women in an entrepreneurship Factors leading women to be an entrepreneur:Women entrepreneurs choose a Women takes up business enterprises to Profession as a challenge and an get over financial difficulties and respond- adventure with an urge to do some visibility is thrust on them due to family -thing new, liking for business and circumstances. to have an independent occupation. With the spread of education and new approaches/awareness, women entrepreneurs are achieving higher level of 3E’s, namely: (i) Engineering (ii) Electronics (iii) Energy. Though we should not forget certain Psycho-Social Barriers which hinders the growth of women entrepreneurs. Opportunities : Free entry into world trade. Improved risk taking ability. Governments of nations withdrawn some restrictions Technology and inventions spread into the world. Encouragement to innovations and inventions. Promotion of healthy completions among nations Consideration increase in government assistance for international trade. Establishment of other national and international institutes to support business among nations of the world. Benefits of specialization. We should provide her special infrastructure facilities what ever she deeds. Govt. should arrange special training programmes of women entrepreneurship Govt. should felicitated top ranker women’s entrepreneur. Women entrepreneur should more competitive and efficient in the local international market. Use should invite successful women entrepreneurs from foreign countries. Women Entrepreneurship in India Out of total 940. 8 million people in India, in the 1990s, females comprise 437. 10 million representing 46. 5 percent of the total population. There are 126. 48 million women workforce but as per the 1991 census, only 1, 85,900 women accounting for only 4. 5 per cent of the total self-employed persons in the country were recorded. As per a rough estimate the number of SSIs are expected to be2. 5 billion having 9% women entrepreneurs in to it. Considering this trend, women participation in another five years was 20 % more, raising the number of women entrepreneurs to about 5, 00,000. Combined effect of motivational drive, preparation of information material, conducting training, creation of women industrial estates, and training of promoters and use of mass media all together is bound to accelerate the process of women entrepreneurship development. Some psycho-social factors impede the growth of women entrepreneurs are as follows: Poor self-image of women Inadequate motivation Discriminating treatment Faulty socialization Role conflict Cultural values Lack of courage and self-confidence Inadequate encouragement Lack of social acceptance Unjust social, economic and cultural system Lack of freedom of expression Afraid of failures and criticism Susceptible to negative attitude Low dignity of labour What New Awareness has to say about it? The new Industrial Policy of the Government of India has specially highlighted the need for special entrepreneurship programmes for women entrepreneurs in the nature of product-process oriented courses – to enable them to start small-scale industries. A majority of women entrepreneurs are from the middle class families who have low technical education, less family responsibilities but desire to become entrepreneurs. This potential should be identified and tapped. Rural Entrepreneur Succeeding as an entrepreneur and an innovator in today’s world is vastly different from what it was earlier. Besides the existing generation of entrepreneurship also is passing through the transition period. They experience financial resource limitation to promote or to develop a venture and there is also look of research and innovation to meat with marketing challenges. Indian rural economy is also experiencing behavior of entrepreneurial. Aim of most farmers is to earn profits from farming as from any other business, if he determines the objectives. A farm business necessary requires deliberate decision and proper investment, after assessing risk and available resources to maximize profit. There for entrepreneurship is not simply adoption of new activity but it is transformation of a person from traditional of modern India is known as â€Å"Home spices† and is in fact the largest producer, consumer and exporter of spices in the world. Vijay Mallya’s mission was to create brand Kingfisher as a generic brand for lifestyle. There happened to be some sort of compatibility between the way he lived his life and the brand image that he was thinking to create. One of the key ingredients of innovation is to simply be yourself. He did the restructuring process of United Breweries without any sense of embarrassment. We are all sometimes stymied, curbed and limited by ourselves. Philips, Sony, Honda, Ford provide the signposts of entrepreneurship today for all to emulate. Some of these have come up only in recent years and from small beginnings. In India, too, one sees glimpses of such entrepreneurship. ICICI’s experience tells a great deal about entrepreneurship – good as well as not so good. Following Indian firms will keep on dominating the corporate world in the future too — Tata Steel Motors Indian Oil Corporation Reliance industries Infosys Technologies Moser Baer Bharti Tele-ventures Twaalfhoven and Indivers (1993, pp. 3-4), they are run by dynamic entrepreneurs, who manage and lead their companies not only to remain in the business but to expand it. They think and act globally, look for expansion, rely on external resources, seek professional advice or they work with professional teams. They challenge competitors instead of avoiding them and take and share risks in a way that leads to success. In this way economic vitality of a country largely depends on the overall level of entrepreneurial capacity, i. e. , on its ability to create rapidly growing companies Summary The entrepreneurs provide a magical touch to an organization, whether in public or private or joint sector, in achieving speed, flexibility, innovativeness, and a strong sense of self-determination. Free Essays on Global Warming

The earth’s temperature is constantly changing and thus causes environmental determinism where man must change his lifestyle to adapt with the environment. The constant changing of the environment due to natural effects as well as hazards caused by humans such as pollution and abuse of natural resources is affecting the earth as well as man. Mankind lives heavily depend on the environment. For survival humans consume food from the natural environment and use other natural resources for other basic survival needs. Environment defined by the Webster’s dictionary is â€Å"Surrounding conditions, influences, or forces.† The state of the environment is heavily dependent on mankind. With the constant abuse put upon the earth, the natural resources of the earth, deterioration is going to occur. Global warming is a process that is becoming more serious as the green house affect takes place. The definition of global warming according to the Encarta online dictionary is â €Å"an increase in the world’s temperatures, believed to be caused in part by the greenhouse effect and depletion of the ozone layer.† This process increases the earth’s temperatures causing the melting of ice glaciers and other detrimental effects to plague the earth. Fossil fuel burning, disintegration of the ozone layer and deforestation all play factors in the dangerous global warming process. With the constant degradation of the environment by man, global warming is inevitable. The burning of fossil fuels and exhaust emissions increases air pollution, which effects global warming. A fossil fuel is any carbon containing fuel for example coal, peat, petroleum, and natural gas derived from the decomposed remains of prehistoric plants and animals. The United States accounts for 25% of worldwide energy consumption, while it has less than 5% percent of world’s population. Fossil fuels are primarily used to produce energy for automobiles, to provide heat, and fuel indu... Free Essays on Global Warming Free Essays on Global Warming Is global warming a problem? The answer to this question is a resounding .... maybe. The reason I say maybe is that the debate over global warming is a mix of solid scientific facts and subjective interpretations of those facts. Aside from the uncertainties in the scientific information on the physical aspects of global warming, there is considerable 'wiggle room' for a wide range of subjective interpretations of the science and the implications of its uncertainties. During conferences, in the hallowed halls of Congress, in the media, and, increasingly, around the dinner table, people are discussing whether global warming IS a problem and, if so, is it a problem societies can cope with either through prevention or adaptation? The outcome of much of this discussion becomes centered on what the meaning of the word "is" is. The following paragraphs are responses to questions often raised by one group or another, either to clarify or to undermine the various opposing views on global warming of the atmosphere and the role, if any, of human activities in that warming trend. Is global warming happening, as we speak? It appears that all observers agree that the global climate has warmed up in the past few decades. However, some argue that the warming began with the onset of the Industrial Revolution, in the early 1800s, and continues today. They agree that there have been ups and downs in the trends of global average temperature, but those fluctuations do not undermine the basic tenet that the global climate is warmer today than in past decades. Others (the "naysayers" or non-believers in climate change) agree that there is a warming trend over the past few decades but that the variability of recent global climate falls within the range that might be expected from the behavior of "normal" climatic conditions over longer periods of time, such as centuries. Thus, they downplay the view that human activities are affecting global climate. ... Free Essays on Global Warming Canada is one of the best places to live in the world because it has so much to offer. There are ten provinces and three territories, and it is the second largest country in the world with over thirty million people and growing. There are two official languages, English and French; however, it is so culturally diverse that a variety of ethic groups can coincide together, as they strive for a better life. Canada has one of the highest literacy rate, as well as good health care and education systems, which means that they have a high standard of living. The citizens of Canada live in a democratic society where they are all equal and are given the freedom of speech, without fear of an oppressive government. Another benefit that Canada presents is their ability to move with technology, which plays an important part in their future as well as their current state in the booming economy. It would appear that Canada is an ideal place live, yet in order to succeed and live in this fast past e nvironment, a few unknowingly sacrifices have been made. Canada is one of the main contributors of emission and other deadly gases, which leads to global climate change and therefore should take a more aggressive approach in finding solutions. By not concentrating on finding ways to reduce emission gases, the ozone layer continues to deplete, and therefore causes the climate to change world wide. Nevertheless it is also important to understand how exactly climate can change. Climate change, or global warming as it is other wise known as, is the result of when the levels of greenhouse gases rise and less infrared light, or heat, escapes the earth’s atmosphere. The earth’s atmosphere is made up of seventy-eight percent of nitrogen and twenty-one percent of oxygen. That means that one percent of gas that is left comes from water vapor, carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), nitrous oxide, and methane, which are other wise known as trace gases. Hu... Free Essays on GLOBAL WARMING Have you ever wondered what happens when too much carbon dioxide gets omitted into the Earth’s atmosphere? Well, if you’re anything at all like me you probably haven’t nor have you yet realized how serious that is. The condition is called global warming. This might sound familiar to most of you, but to those of you who share my cluelessness of environmental issues global warming is the rising of the Earth’s surface temperature due to chemicals in the atmosphere. Yes, this issue is as serious as it sounds and in order for you to fully grasp the importance of this issue I will discuss why the Earth is getting hotter and what will happen if the warming continues. The Earth is kept warm enough to support life through a process known as the â€Å"greenhouse effect.† Our only source of heat is the Sun, whose rays warm the surface of the Earth. The Earth reflects this heat back into the atmosphere. If all of the heat escaped into space, our planet would be too cold for us to survive. Fortunately heat is trapped in the atmosphere by so-called "greenhouse gases", and some of the warmth finds its way back to the surface of the globe via the troposphere, the lower part of the atmosphere. Unfortunately, many modern human activities produce greenhouse gases as waste. Carbon dioxide, which is one of the most common, is produced in vast quantities by industrialized nations like ours, and as more and more countries are becoming industrialized, the volume of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increasing. Another important contributor to the problem is methane, which is released by farm animals and rotting trash. All these gases in the air have started to increase the global temperature and will ultimately lead to a change in the Earth’s climate. Another cause of the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is deforestation. If we all stayed awake in Biology class we learned that trees take in carbon dioxide and release oxyg... Free Essays on Global Warming Global warming is the warming near the earth's surface that results when the earth's atmosphere traps the sun's heat. The earth is getting warmer. The changes are small, so far, but they are expected to grow and speed up. Within the next fifty to one hundred years, the earth may be hotter than it has been in the past million years. As oceans warm and glaciers melt, land and cities along coasts may be flooded. Heat and drought may cause forests to die and food crops to fail. Global warming will affect weather everywhere, plants and animals everywhere, people everywhere; humans are warming the earth's atmosphere by burning fuels, cutting down forest, and by taking part in other activities that release certain heat trapping gases into the air. One major cause of global warming is the use of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas that were formed from the remains of plant material deposited during the earth's carboniferous period. We have known for only a few thousand years that coal, oil, and natural gas can be burned to provide energy. It was not until the mid-1800s, however, that we began to burn very large quantities of these fossil fuels. The worldwide consumption of fossil fuel has increased dramatically. The world now burns at least five billion tons of fossil fuel each year. As this carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels enters the atmosphere, some of it is taken up by photosynthesizing plants, and the oceans absorb some. But because we are burning so much fossil fuel at such a rapid rate, we are putting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere much faster than these natural processes are taking it out. There is no longer a balance between the amount of carbon dioxide being added to the air an d the amount of carbon dioxide being removed. As a result, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air is steadily increasing. Unfortunately, burning fossil fuels is not the only thing that we humans are doin... Free Essays on Global Warming Global Warming Most of the world today regards the â€Å"global warming† as both real and dangerous. Many aspects, however, have already been discounted by the scientific community. Fears of massive sea level increase, accompanied by many early discussion about global warming. Scientist afraid the sea level would increase onto land due to the melting of ice. It is now widely agreed that even the potential contribution of warming to sea level rise would be swamped by other more important factors (Moran, 1999). These factors include hazardous gases and pollutants. We are entering a period of global warming as a result of burning vast amounts of fossil fuels. By burning fossil fuels, â€Å"we are putting into the air more gases that act like a globe of glass around the planet† (National Geographic, 1990). The ‘globe of glass’ is a mixture of all the fuels that remains permanently on the surface of Planet Earth. It is called glass because it prevents cooling air from entering causing the Green House Effect. Many scientists believe that human processes are contributing to global warming regardless of impact of natural cycles also causing climate change (Keller, 1999). The earth’s climate is predicted to change because human activities are altering the chemical composition of the atmosphere through the buildup of greenhouse gases – primarily carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. The heat-trapping property of these gases is undisputed. Although uncertainty exists about exactly how earth’s climate responds to these gases, global temperatures are rising. Scientists on Hawaii’s Mauna Loa have recorded steady increase in human activities such as burning fossil fuels. Most believe that the rising CO2 level will lead to higher global temperatures and significant climate change (National Geographic, 1990). Some scientists do not be... Fossil fuels are primarily used to produce energy for automobiles, to provide heat, and fuel indu... Free Essays on Global Warming The main gases that cause the greenhouse effect are water vapor, carbon dioxide (CO2), and methane, which comes mainly from animal manure. Other gases like nitrogen oxide and chloroflurocarbons, man made gases, get caught in the atmosphere as well. The decay of animals and respiration are two main natural sources of carbon dioxide. In my opinion, we the people of the world should try to slow down the emission of greenhouse gases and/or find ways to balance the gases so the climate doesn’t change so rapidly. If it did, we would be forced to adapt to the new climate that we brought upon ourselves. If we had an international cooperation to put a damper on the production of chloroflurocarbons and slowed down the use of fossil fuels it would dramatically slow done the process of "global warming". Carbon dioxide pollution from the increase of industry and transportation is a major cause of global warming. These two causes are connected with the growth in the world population. As the population grows the necessity for food and other products increase, therefore industry must grow to keep up with the demand. The increase in transportation is directly due to the growing population and the need for jobs and the growing congestion on our highways. Another cause in global warming is deforestation. Trees remove carbon dioxide from the air as they grow. The carbon dioxide is released back into the air as they are cut and burned. The forest ability to reduce the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is decreasing due to massive deforestation around the world. These causes seem simple and fixable, but if they are not cut down, the Earth and its inhabitants will feel the effects. Over the last hundred years, the global temperatures have been increasing slowly, but steadily. Since 1980, the temperature has risen 0.2 degrees Celsius (0.4 degrees Fahrenheit) each decade. Scientist predict that if we continue putting the same amount of gas into the atmos... Free Essays on Global Warming Global Warming Global Warming is an important ecological issue because it has several negative effects upon our environment. Global Warming, or what has been called the Greenhouse effect, is the result of a fourfold ecological process. 1-Sunlight radiates from the sun, through space, to Earth’s atmosphere. 2- The sunlight enters the atmosphere and hits Earth. Some of it turns into heat energy in the form of infrared light. The heat gets absorbed by surrounding air and land, which in turn makes it warm. 3- Infrared rays, that are remitted into the atmosphere are trapped by greenhouse gases. 4- The gas then absorbs the light and is remitted back to the Earth’s surface and warms it even more. Left on it's own this natural process keeps our planet warm enough for habitation, but with the increases in temperature, caused by modern industry, our current way of life could become threatened. Over the past 100 years the emissions of greenhouse gases have been increasing due to increases in tec hnology and human developments. Modern factories and production plants have been responsible for depositing large amounts of gas into the atmosphere. These gases, to name a few, include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone depleting substances such as CFCs, also known as Chlorofluorocarbons, hydrofluorocarbons, and perfluorocarbons. Activities such as fossil fuel combustion, waste disposal, the use of refrigerators, agricultural and industrial activities, and the cutting down of forests have all played a significant role in the spread of these gases. These, and other human practices, have changed the chemical make up of the atmosphere. Between pre-industrial times and today, carbon dioxide concentrations have been on the rise. With these higher levels of gas concentration in our atmosphere the Earth's climate is slowing changing for the worse. The temperature of the Earth’s surface is as warm, if not warmer than it has been in any oth... Free Essays on Global Warming Global warming by definition is an increase in the average temperature of the earth's surface. Since the late 1800's, the average temperature has increased about 0.5 to 1.5 Fahrenheit degrees (0.3 to 0.8 Celsius degree). Scientists disagree about the causes of this warming trend. Some say that the warming trend is a natural occurrence; they say that natural process could cause the rise in temperature. Changes in the path of revolution of the Earth around the sun could cause global warming. Orbital variation changes how sunlight is distributed on the surface of the planet. But, evidence suggests that human activities have caused this unusual change in climate. The greenhouse effect is the major cause. Energy from the sun heats the earth's surface and in turn heat energy is radiated back into space. Greenhouse gasses trap some of this outgoing energy to retain heat and heat the planet. Without this natural process, the global temperature would be much lower than it is now. The problem is that these valuable and necessary greenhouse gases build up in the atmosphere and cause more and more heat to be trapped. This causes a long term warming of the planet. When excess amounts of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide (the greenhouse gasses) are released into the atmosphere, the greenhouse effect is increased. These gasses trap more and more heat and raise the global temperature. Emissions of carbon dioxide or CO2 are increasing the greenhouse effect. Natural conditions can release large amounts of CO2 and cause these fluctuations. Forrest fires and volcanic activity produce large amounts of CO2. Global warming is caused primarily by human activities most importantly - the burning of fossil fuels. When coal gas and oil are burned, they release CO2 in the atmosphere. This coincides with industrial development. Deforestation and the clearing of land reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that trees and other vegetation remove from the atm... Free Essays on Global Warming Global Warming Several issues concerning the environment are brought to the public’s attention every year, but none has more of a direct effect on earth and its environment than global warming. Coincidentally it appears to be the least of the populations concern. Global warming is the theory that our planet is getting hotter due to an increase in the greenhouse effect brought about by the increase of carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere. Global warming is caused by the greenhouse gases and has several consequences that could occur if this problem is left ignored by most of the world and our nations leaders. Such consequences include our planet getting hotter, melting of large glaciers, wildlife suffering or even the inverse effect which could trigger an ice age. With that, we should take global warming step by step and educate people about it because most people do not even know what it is or that there is a problem. Our earth is protected by a large ozone (o3) lay er in the atmosphere which deflects life threatening UV rays that are given off by the sun. Without this layer we wouldn’t be able to exist as an ecosystem and all life would go extinct. â€Å"Greenhouse gases, which have built up to unnaturally high levels in the atmosphere, trap heat. They include carbon dioxide, which is emitted when fossil fuels are burned, and other gases produced by human activity EWatson 2). These gases besides trapping heat, created a hole in our ozone layer which will continue to increase in size if the level of gases remain too high. A hole in the ozone layer means that there is no ozone to protect us within that given size of the hole. Whether the hole is big or small it does have an effect on earth which we call global warming, which in turn can have several effects on the planet. One possible effect that can be attributed to global warming is the melting of large glaciers. This is serious because â€Å"The Earth’s ice cover acts as a ... Free Essays on Global Warming In the past one hundred and forty years, the average temperature of the globe has increased by approximately 0.6 °C. (Zwiers, 200) More recently, the 1990s was the hottest decade that has been recorded during this one hundred and forty year period. At first glance, this change may not appear to be significant. However, this seemingly small increase in global mean temperatures has caused some important changes in our earth’s landscape, in the 20th Century alone. Mean sea levels have increased by two millimeters annually, putting many low-lying nations in increasing danger during tropical storms. The incidence of tropical storms and other extreme weather events have dramatically increased. Temperature and precipitation shifts have forced many plants and animals to adjust their ranges upward in elevation and towards their respective poles. (Cunningham, 2000) Glaciers have been retreating at an alarming rate, and lake ice covers in the higher latitudes of the Northern He misphere last fourteen fewer days than they did at the beginning of the century. In the Northern Hemisphere, warming has caused earlier migration of birds, earlier breeding seasons, earlier plant flowering, and earlier emergence of insects. Growing seasons in the northern latitudes have been extended since the 1960s, and coral reefs in the southern latitudes have been bleached by the increased temperatures. (Cunningham, 200) Many of these observations correlated with global climate change are projected continue into the next century. In fact, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the world’s authority on climate change, predicts that the 21st Century will see a warming much more drastic than that seen during the 20th Century. Global mean temperatures are projected to increase (depending on various scenarios) by a range of 1.4 °C to 5.8 °C, with a corresponding rise in sea levels of 9 millimeters to 880 millimeters. This would place an even greater s... Free Essays on Global Warming Global Warming / Climate Changes Int’l Global Warming is shorthand for the climate changes that may result from excessive heat being trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere by so called green house gases. Global warming as defined in out test is â€Å"the gradual rise in world temperature, a suspected consequence of greenhouse gases trapping heat emitted from Earth that would otherwise escape in outer space† (380). This climate change can be attributed to several different possibilities both natural and forced through human activity. â€Å"The general state of the Earth’s climate is controlled by the balance of energy the earth releases back to space†(Colls). One natural action, which can cause change, is the Earth’s shift in orbit rotating around the sun, this changes the amount of energy we receive from the sun. Other natural causes are within the oceans, atmosphere, ice sheets and volcanic eruptions to name a few. Such natural causes have created a series of ice ages on Earth. Over more recent years humans have caused many changes to the Earth which is a major cause for global warming. The burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, landfills, methane from rice cultivation and cattle raising are all examples of man-made greenhouse effect and global warming. The Greenhouse effect more specifically is the effect of â€Å"Warming of the Earth’s atmosphere caused by the presence of certain heat-trapping ‘greenhouse’ gases in the atmosphere†(Colls). Over the past few decades scientist have been reviewing the changing weather patters due to global warming. The amount of rainfall, temperature and humidity are all showing significant change. Over the past two decades the Earth’s temperature has substantially increased as is expected to increase more. Mountain glaciers have retarded dramatically while sea levels are rising. This could cause flooding and loss of much land in years to come. In other areas there ... Free Essays on Global Warming Global warming occurs when the levels of greenhouse gasses rise and less infrared light, or heat, escapes the earth's atmosphere. Thus, the temperature experienced on Earth begins to rise. Climate change is a part of the Earth's history. There have been dramatic fluctuations in overall average temperature for the past 150,000 years that suggest a direct association with carbon dioxide levels. In the past the temperature highs and lows have been in tandem with carbon dioxide level highs and lows, this does not seem to be a mere coincidence. Carbon dioxide currently accounts for 0.03% of the gas content within the atmosphere. However, it has a disproportionate impact on the earth's temperature. Thus, minor fluctuations in the percentage of atmospheric carbon dioxide will likely have a significant effect on the global temperature. The percentage of atmospheric carbon dioxide has risen over the past century at an alarming rate. Industrial civilization is essentially driven by fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gasoline all major contributors to the raise in carbon dioxide emissions. Deforestation also releases carbon dioxide via burning and exposing the soil to sunlight. Also, since trees are a major factor in the natural processing of carbon dioxide, needing it to make up their mass, when they are cut down they can no longer serve to absorb carbon dioxide. Our practices are altering the environment and endangering society in return. Carbon dioxide is put into the atmosphere in many ways; some of which are naturally occurring and others are from human activity. Over 95% of the carbon dioxide emissions are from natural sources, and would occur even if humans were not on Earth. However, Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, due to the cyclic nature of the carbon cycle, would change little if not for human activities that produce so much every year. The present addition of 3% annually to emission...

Sociological review of the movie Borat Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Sociological review of the movie Borat - Essay Example Set in a documentary style, the narrative begins in a small village where Borat introduces his family and village to the audience. Borat is soon asked by the government of Kazakhstan to visit The United States of America in order to learn the cultural roots of the most powerful nation in the world. He would then bring back his learnings, as a form of a documentary, and teach the Central Asian nation, a part of former Soviet Union, the â€Å"American Way†. With a limited budget, an obese sidekick as a producer of the documentary (Azamat Bagatov played by Ken Davitian), Borat sets off to meet real Americans. His zigzag journey across different states, his reactions to American culture and vice-versa (America’s reaction to Borat) is on one side a comical riot but on the other hand exposes the prejudices and hypocrisies in the American culture. As Borat is capable to see the world only from his own cultural viewpoint, the movie at solitary level is a story of ethnocentrism gone crazy. His values, beliefs, and norms are quite a horror and offensive at first, but sadly depict the realities of multiculturalism in the US (Lee). This write-up aims to review the movie from a sociology point of view, illustrating the interfaces of sociological theories with movie’s account and themes. Ethnocentrism I believe that the central sociological theory in the movie Borat. Ethnocentrism is the practice of comparing other cultural practices with your own and often finding them inferior. Cultural divide, being the main theme of the movie, is practically embedded in almost all scenes both from American and Kazakhi points of views (Robert Brym). Sacha Boren demonstrates this in the famous rodeo scene in Texas where he enters the ring to praise the power of America, its decision to invade Iraq and cursing the enemies of America. He is met with rounds of applause and cheers. However, he stretches his act by singing the national anthem of Kazakhstan on American tune calling it the greatest country in the world. The idea that some other country beats the United States in glory and power does not go well with the audience as it responds with loud jeers and boos. The incident hints ethnocentrism being rooted in American culture and perhaps the root of various prejudices Americans have against other cultures and nationalities (Lalo). Conflict theory Another principle theory that is reflective in the movie right from the start is Karl Marx’s Conflict theory that defines conflicts in social structures as the main driver of the progressive development in greater equality, democracy, autonomy and individuality (Sociology Guide). The conflict between races (especially Jews) is apparent right from the start of the movie. Many DVD versions of the movie have the following language options: English, French, Spanish, Russian and Hebrew. If you select "Hebrew," you would hear a repeated warning, "Jew in  vocinity, Jew in  vocinity," as the screen f lashes the following messages: "You have been trapped Jew!" "Keep your claws where they can be seen." "Do not attempt shift your shape." And this is all before the movie even begins. Borat Sagdiyev lives in a world that believes Jews to have horns on their head. A

Criticisms Trafficking Perspective Essay Example for Free

Criticisms Trafficking Perspective Essay The pentameter 1 and 2 and the United Kingdoms government Action plan to tackle trafficking have many deficiencies regarding the ability of the victims to access human rights. First, the victims are given minimum care. However, there is minimal concern for women who are trafficked for other reasons other than sexual abuse. The United Kingdom government, through the provisions of the two articles, has shown very little commitment to provide fully for this category of women. In most cases, they just remain in the Poppy project. There is also very little awareness creation amongst the rescued women about men who demand to buy sex from them. This means that they are not fully protected because despite the fact that the women have been rescued from the initial traffickers, they are still in danger of sexual abuse from men who seek to pay for their sexual services. These women mostly give in to such demands because of their lack of finances and employment (USAID, 2006). Besides, because of limited skills and education, the women lack options and just give in to the demands of the men. The understanding and implementation of victim care is very narrow. The victims have limited access to the services that they require. Aspects of employment, education, recreation, interpretation of languages and legal representation are seldom given priority, however basic they sound to be. These victims are also not assisted during documentation procedures especially those from other nations. Hence, they spend more time than they need to in rehabilitation centers. The United Kingdom lacks specialized care for children and young people relieved from human trafficking. The children usually have special needs making them require special support systems. The rescue process hardly provides for this. Besides, special services like education for this category are not availed. Other services include individualized counseling, protection from harm and providing them with special diets (National Childrens Bureau, 2002) There are no provisions of training, education and employment for the rescued individuals. This is considered unfair especially to school going age children. Besides, one of the contributing factors to human trafficking is poverty. This means that the individual may lack adequate skills needed for employment. The United Kingdom system does not provide funds for training rescued individuals, much as it could be a sure way of addressing poverty. Lack of employment or training opportunities has led to the victims escaping from the rehabilitation centers, at times falling back in to the hands of the traffickers and at times just searching for employment away from the rehabilitation centers (Rosenberg, 2004). The system does not specify clear strategies that would ensure that trafficked individuals are united with their families. Family reunification would reduce congestion in the rehabilitation centers. It is also considered as an immediate measure especially when individuals are United Kingdom citizens. Besides, it is cheaper as compared to keeping the victims in to rehabilitation centers. The victims are also not involved in the process of formulating policies that concern them. These policies address their needs and theoretically, they ought to be very vocal during formulation of such policies. This would ensure that their basic needs are considered and addressed accordingly. Belser (2005) argues that it also gives them a sense of security and ownership. These contribute to the sustainability of projects set up to address their concerns. There is stigma usually associated with the trafficked persons. This includes associating the persons with vices like prostitution. The pentameter 1 and 2 and the UK government action plan on human trafficking fails to give clear measures on how they would address this. Stigmatization of the rescued individuals by the entire public contributes to psychological effects including isolation. Isolation causes stress related complications and affects social cohesion. Lack of social cohesion increases tension amongst the group and this makes coping difficult. Clear strategies need to be initiated to educate the public about this. Stigmatization also discourages the rescued victims from adopting socially acceptable behavior. The system also lacks gender sensitive strategies when rescuing individuals. Men, as well as women have different needs and this should be addressed accordingly (Anderson, 2003). The needs of women especially those basic for survival need to be given priority in order to discourage them from escaping from the rehabilitation centers. The identification procedure is also not clear in the two articles. This has led to the victims of human trafficking being treated as immigration criminals in some instances. This makes the individuals more frustrated and the effects associated with this are significant. For example, they develop psychological illnesses and stress. There is also a gap with respect to the provisions of men who fall victims of human trafficking. The two articles do not give any information on how the needs of men would be met, once they fall victims of sexual harassment and prostitution. The documents focus more on women and children. Despite the fact that the number of men is small, they are also victims and their needs should be given equal priority. The security of the human trafficking individuals, even when they are in the rehabilitation centers is not fully assured. ECPAT UK (2004) explains that this has led to the disappearance of some children from the centers, mainly because they are lured away by the initial traffickers or they go looking for jobs to support themselves. The two articles fail to provide clear procedures that would be used to help change the attitudes of women who are victims but are reluctant abandon the practice due to economic and or behavioral factors. Attitudes have a primary role in changing the behaviors of people. Developing positive attitudes ensures that people do and behave as expected. Efforts therefore would need to be channeled to assisting the rescued victims change their attitude. This will also be instrumental in helping them resist the temptation of falling back to prostitution in extreme cases where they lack finances. In addition, positive attitudes would help the victims recover quickly from the shock of being assaulted. REFERENCE Anderson, B. and Davidson, J. O. (2003).
